John Lohn Appointed Newsmaster at SwimInfo; Duncan Scott to Handle Records, Results -- March 11, 2005

PHOENIX, March 11. JOHN Lohn has been appointed the new Newsmaster at SwimInfo.com, according to Phillip Whitten, Chief Media Officer for Sports Publications, International, publisher of SwimInfo. He will also write articles for Swimming World Magazine.

A 1999 graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, John began covering sports for the Delaware County Daily Times as a college freshman. He has been a staff writer for the Daily Times since 1999, where he's won awards for his coverage of scholastic and collegiate athletics. His main responsibilities include football, swimming and lacrosse, along with feature writing.

In 2000, John had his first article published in Swimming World and has been a regular contributor to the magazine, along with Swimming Technique and SWIM Magazine, for the past four years. He is 28 years old and resides in suburban Philadelphia.

"John is an outstanding swimming writer, with an instinctive understanding of the sport, its athletes and its culture," said Whitten. "In my opinion, he is the best young swimming reporter in the U.S. He's also a very quick study. I am delighted he has come on board."

Whitten also announced that Duncan Scott has been appointed SwimInfo's historian and will also be responsible for results and records.

Scott, an outstanding age group swimmer in his youth and a member of the Indiana University swim team as an undergrad, is a Phoenix attorney who is also highly respected as a swim meet announcer, where he can draw on his vast knowledge of swimming.

"Duncan is in the process of creating the world's most comprehensive, up-to-date data bank of swimming records, from world and Olympic records through age group, high school, college, Masters and regional and national standards," Whitten said.

"Duncan is a treasure trove of swimming knowledge, and we are fortunate to have him as part of the team," he added.
