NC State Receives Verbal Pledge From Distance Freestyler Max Carlsen
NEW COMMIT: NC State University has earned a new verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Olympic Trials qualifier Max Carlsen of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He will join Gavin Keogh, Tyler Bardak and Aaron Davidson in Raleigh as a member of the Wolfpack’s Class of 2029.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“Excited to announce my verbal commitment to NC State! Can’t wait to be a part of the Pack!”
A freestyler and backstroker, Carlsen trains year-round with Las Vegas Swim Club and won the mile at Juniors East back in December where he also placed fourth in the 500 free. He won the 500 free and 1000 free at Lewisville Sectionals last month and
His best times include:
- 1650 free – 14:59.44
- 1000 free – 8:57.77
- 500 free – 4:19.16
- 200 free – 1:38.39
- 100 back – 51.36
- 200 back – 1:52.25
Currently a junior at Palo Verde High School, Carlsen won the 200 free and 500 free at the 2023 Nevada 3A/5A State Championships.
Carlsen is a huge get for the Wolfpack, as his mile time would’ve placed fourth at the 2024 ACC Championships — giving NC State three of the top five finishes.
